Would you like to become a member of Maui's oldest arts society? Here's
what to do:
Membership Application & Jurying Process
Aloha, and Mahalo for your interest in applying for membership
1)
Prospective members may pick up an application at the gallery, or fill in
the online form on our website.
2) Prospective members must complete
the application which includes their current Hawaii G.E. Tax license number, a
photo ID., and social security number.
3) The new member jurying is held
every other month at the Lahaina Arts Society Old Jail Gallery.
Applicants will be called by the Jury committee chair person to schedule
a time slot on the jury day. Feel
free to call the gallery at
661-0111
for information or updates on the exact jury date.
5) The Jury Committee makes the
decision on Jury day after interviews are completed.
A letter of acceptance or denial is sent to the applicant within one
week. Unless, further review is
necessary.
6)
The Jury Committee reviews the prospective member’s application and
makes specific notes on the artwork accepted.
The accepted applications are given to the Gallery Manager to organize an
orientation into Lahaina Arts Society to all new members.
7)
Orientation provides an overview of the mission, by-law, rules and
regulations of Lahaina Arts Society. Artists
will be given the ‘new member packet’, sign membership agreement, pay
membership dues of $50 per year, and sign up for volunteer hours.
8) New members are required to
complete three 8-hour volunteer shifts before exhibiting in the gallery or
Banyan Tree Art Fair. This helps the
new member become more familiar with our current artist, and may be beneficial
for potential sales. All members are
then responsible for completing one 8-hour shift per month.
